Passing Judgement
I'm gonna speak to all the judges out there for a sec, if you judge me solely on my outer appearance, how I talk, things I say, things i write on Facebook, in my blogs, the videos I post on my YouTube page, etc then ignorance must be your mother & intolerance your father because I'm more than what I choose to always show and if you actually took time out to open the book instead of just analyzing the cover maybe then you would properly know the whole story and realize that I am a lot deeper than what you have judged me to be....got a beef with what I said then take it up with whatever deity that you believe in...DUECES *steps off of my soapbox*

Neo's Old School Pick Of The Day (EPMD - You Gots To Chill)
***If you are reading this on Facebook 1st please click on the link "View Original Post" to my blog in order to actually watch the video***
Had to take it back to yet another favorite of mine...(see a pattern with all these old school songs, they are all favs) but this one holds a lot of sentimental value to me because it's one of those songs that make me think about 2 of my favorite relatives, my Uncle Jeff and my cousin Charles. I think about my Uncle cause he just loves this joint and I think about my cousin Charles cause I remember chillin with him in my Uncle Pook's basement when we were younger playing video games and stuff and whenever he played this he would start rocking that dance that my man was doing behind Erick Sermon at about the 1:34 mark (CLASSIC), oh and when my daughter gets married imma bust out with the move my man kicked off at the 1:53 mark (he was going in). This is true hip hop and songs like this are the reason I will always be a lover of the genre.

Neo's Old School Pick Of The Day (Full Force - Ain't My Type Of Hype)
***If you are reading this on Facebook 1st please click on the link "View Original Post" to my blog in order to actually watch the video***
Alright so I am moving the old school picks over here to my blogspot so you can now catch all the picks here. This 1st one is another favorite of mine and I figured I would go a little different because it was a song that had a video but most people will remember it from this scene in House Party (i'll add the regular video as well). The song is from Full Force called "Ain't My Type Of Hype" and it was a banger, me and my homie LA used to rock to this back in our old apartment...hope this gets everyone's weekend started off the right way, DUECES

Happy Mothers Day To All From Neo
This note is just my way of expressing my respect, admiration, and thanks to all of you women out there that this day was created for. It's hard to fit all of the thanks into just one day but each moment of today is special because it is celebrating the greatness of women, mothers to be exact, and it is your day to be honored how you should be. You have to deal with so much in the world but not today, you have to fight hard to be memorable but not today, you get taken for granted a good portion of the time but not today, because today is your day to be recognized. From my mothers (Mitzie, Terry, & Carol) to my beautiful wife (Kiesha) and all of my friends and family members that are mothers I thank you all for each and every thing that you do to make this world as beautiful as that word that we call "Mother". Your efforts and sacrifices, your patience and love, your tender loving care and nuturing is what helps us all come into this world healthy and ready to make something of ourselves. To all the mothers expecting, to all the women helping to raise children that aren't their own, to the aunts, cousins, and grandmothers helping to raise the next generations I thank you all as well. Special thanks to all those mothers out there with that mean belt game, keeping your kids in order not through abuse but through guided discipline with that leather strap...lol I thank you because without you and that "guidance" many of us would be out here in the world lost and doing God knows what. Each one of you that holds that title of "Mother" is a very special and unique individual, your carried us around for 9 months, you were the voice we heard the most of during that time, you were the 1st sight most of us saw, the 1st one that we cried to, the 1st one that we ran to when we fell off the bike, the 1st one we thank when we win a Grammy, and we do this because you are our strength, our lifeline, our blessing, and most importantly....OUR MOTHER. So today I want you all to enjoy it, savor it, and let this special day be more to you than just a card or flowers, more than just a nice dinner or that gift you have been dying for, let today be special because thats just what you are to those that call you "Mother"....special and we love and thank each and every one of you for all that you do....Happy Mothers Day
Happy Mothers Day Mommy From Shania & Quentin

My Hibernation (A Little Hiatus)
Ya boy Neo will be on a little break, not for any reason other than sometimes we have to regroup our thoughts, actions, etc and get that balance back so every now and then I have to go into recluse and hibernate (physically, mentally, & spiritually). Life can get demanding at times and between all this work and these projects, trying to figure out where my family and I will be moving to once my job moves futher into downtown, etc I am just exhausted. I just wont be around much so this is merely a heads up to those that actually care enough to wonder. Not saying I won't be in contact with my loved ones or even periodically poppin in and out online but the steady influx of blogs, Facebook posts, & YouTube videos will be kind of at a stand still until I sort some things out. No I am not stressing or ready to choke nobody I just need some time to cleanse the system a little that's all (which we all should do from time to time to get that focus back we tend to lose), so I don't want no one bugging out cause it's not even like that. It may be 2 weeks, 2 months, who knows but when I come back it will be ON!!! I'll be back with the Old School joints of the day & Neo's REALTALK 101 for Facebook, some more videos for my YouTube channel http://www.youtube.com/user/mrallenakaneo and the blogs cause I have some great ideas for some new topics. Oh and for all my Joe Budden fans I will be doing a special "30 Days Of Budden" to highlight 30 of his best tracks in my eyes so that those that either don't know about him or understand him can get a better understanding as to why we go so hard for the homie Joey...plus I have that blog about those infamous "FUCK MY LIFE (FML)" people that dont appreciate the air that they breathe so stay tuned. See you all when I awake from my hibernation, DUECES
Special Guest Blogger: Reasy from "Stumbling & Rumblings"
Okay so I was going to go into this full detail and write this extensive blog about what I thought about Tyler Perry's new movie "Why Did I Get Married Too?" but after careful deliberation I decided against it because I already know most won't even get what I am trying to say and I also don't want a bunch of angry people running up on me cause they loved the movie. Was it a bad movie, naw it wasn't bad but it wasn't that good either and no where near as dope as the 1st one but that folks is just my opinion. I am going to leave this one to my homie Reasy and his blog http://threefoureighty.clipz-status.com/?p=725 because he pretty much summed up everything that I felt in regards to this movie so sit back and enjoy the read below:
SIDENOTE: I did notice how Tyler made the portrayal of the women with a very subliminal touch of trying to educate, many won't even understand where I am going with that, THUS the reason I am not writing a full review of my own as it would be a waste of both your time and mine
Overall, the movie was tolerable. It’s like you seen one Tyler Perry movie, you’ve seen them all. It came in 2nd this weekend, doing $30 million. So that’s not bad. - Reasy
SIDENOTE: I did notice how Tyler made the portrayal of the women with a very subliminal touch of trying to educate, many won't even understand where I am going with that, THUS the reason I am not writing a full review of my own as it would be a waste of both your time and mine
**WARNING** May Contain Spoilers
So Saturday morning, I went to the movies to see said movie in the poster. So whenever a movie that is geared towards black audiences, the theaters tend to be jammed packed. Fine. Make sure you all do this for other Black film makers as well. Now I saw the first one on bootleg and when I watched it, it was different from what we saw in his previous movies. But you can always tell when you’re watching a Tyler Perry by the simplicity of it. To me it seems as if he doesn’t want to push the envelope in his movies. The writing and character development could stand to improve greatly.
For example, Angela (Tasha Smith) and Marcus (Michael Jai White) exchange about “Why Did I Get Married” should have left on the cutting room floor. Angela’s character annoyed me throughout the movie. I know that her character was written to be outspoken but acting like a plum fool throughout the movie make me cringe while sitting there. Patricia (Janet Jackson) and Gavin (Malik Yoba) seemed as if they couldn’t get over their issues that was preventing their marriage from improving. Sheila (Jill Scott) and Troy (Lahman Rucker) were adjusting to life in Atlanta. Of course they had their issues and thing got crazy when Sheila’s ex Mike (Richard Jones) showed up at the beach house to everyone’s dismay. And last but not least Dianne (Sharon Leal) and Terry (Tyler Perry) is suffering from emotional disappointment.
Now I’ve said this over and over again, Perry’s movies seem rushed. And as I watch, it jumps from one point to the next without letting that particular area grow. The jokes in the movie are meh. A lot of the audience howled in laughter while I sat there like huh? That’s funny? Then the scenes where Janet Jackson said she had to go to a dark place proved so. The anger, rage and raw emotion showed that when you push a Black woman too far, the results aren’t always positive. And come on now, Patricia screaming “Fix it!!” will not solve issues. If that’s the case, the Easy Button that Staples advertise would fix a lot of things.
Overall, the movie was tolerable. It’s like you seen one Tyler Perry movie, you’ve seen them all. It came in 2nd this weekend, doing $30 million. So that’s not bad. - Reasy

"McNabb Traded To Redskins" (Dummy move of the year by the Eagles)
So let's 1st get the news out of the way, Philadelphia Eagles QB Donovan McNabb was traded to the Washington Redskins for a 2nd Round pick (Pick #37) in this year's NFL Draft and either a 3rd or a 4th rounder in next year's and all I am left with is.....HUH???? (keep in mind I am in no way, shape, or form a Philadelphia Eagles or Washington Redskins fan I just actually kinda like Donovan McNabb and these are just the ways that I feel)
This has to by far be the dummy move of the offseason every year there are a few but this one by far tops any this offseason. Okay I see the trade was needed after all the behind the scenes talk, the contract situation, the current QB situation etc but to trade him to a division rival, wait excuse me a HATED division rival is just retarded. Now you will have to face him twice a season and if you think for one minute he isnt coming to show yall up you are sadly mistaken. McNabb is a good QB regardless of the labels he carries such as "he can't win the big games" and "he doesn't have the heart of a champion" I mean the beat writers that say and start this stuff up are about as idiodic as the people that believe it. Classic case of the QB gets too much credit and too much blame...maybe the blame should be placed at Andy Reid's feet with his pedestrian offensive gamecalling and planning I mean the team throws much more than they run and I guess it's also McNabb's fault during all those times the past few seasons when the Eagles had like 3rd and 1 or 2 and couldn't get the yardage because the team isn't constructed to be a bang it inside and get the tough yards type of team.
This move is actually great in my eyes but only great for the Skins and McNabb himself. Personally I am so happy to see him get out of this city because they never appreciated him and what he was able to do as a QB, I mean they boo'd the guy to no end the night he was drafted...steadily ridicule and shit on him when the team doesn't do good but it shouldn't come as a surprise they do that to all of their teams out here in Philadelphia which is the reason why I hate their sports out here so very much. The moves made by Philly this offseason have been questionable at best but this one takes the cake I mean trading Donovan McNabb to a division rival and the Skins of all teams, I mean isn't it like an unwritten rule that you never trade a good player to your division rivals and in some instances not even your conference foes, SMH.
So no McNabb, no Westbrook (which his departure is a little more understandable) and now you turn your team over to Kevin Kolb??? Honestly people do you really think he is going to be "BETTER" than McNabb.....*holds up C'Mon Son sign and makes the Ed Lover face", I watch football religiously and I live in Philadelphia so unfortunately I have to suffer through Eagles games on a weekly basis (just because I love the game) and I have seen Kolb and nothing about him screams out this guy is ready to dethrone McNabb and lead the Eagles to the promise land, they are better off letting Vick have the job but they really don't want him anymore either but they can't unload him cause his trade value isn't that high. But everyone is so high off Kolb and I can't figure out why, same thing with that kid out in Seattle now...Charlie Whitehurst, I mean I would throw a few ideas out there but thats a whole other talk show...lol
It sucks to see a guy like McNabb blamed for everything, even as recent as the playoff loss to Dallas, no way in the blue hell was that all his fault...I mean yes he did play kind of buns but come on son they had no answers for Dallas and basically got outcoached and I challenge anyone to tell me otherwise. McNabb doesn't play defense, he didn't miss tackles on Miles Austin and Felix Jones (yeah I remember if you McNabb haters have selective memories). All I am saying with this whole blog is be careful what you ask for because you just may get it. You ask for McNabb to be gone, well no you have your wish but the options behind him aren't that good in my opinion and now what's going to happen is this Kolb kid now has all this ADDED pressure (like there isn't already enough playing in Philly) less talent around him than Donovan had and you are going to all expect miracles that will never come to pass and next year around draft time the headline in the Philly papers will read "What QB will the Eagles pick in this year's draft?". Now I could be wrong but generally when it comes to sports I am not. I wish Donovan McNabb nothing but the best and much success with his new team, he can also help to groom Jason Campbell should Shanahan decided to keep the young dude who like McNabb has great talent but gets blamed waaaaaaay too much for subpar team play.
So to both the Eagles and Redskins fans I wish both of your teams well this coming year and I will tell you all this much I will be watching the Eagles games this year just to see them fall on their faces, just to see the reactions of all the McNabb haters within the city of Philadelphia ESPECIALLY all those corny sportswriters half of which never know what in the flying fuck they are talking about. I will be paying extra close attention to the Eagles/Redskins games this season to watch McNabb demolish the Eagles, namely when the Skins come to Philly I may even have to get tickets to go see that game with a McNabb jersey on just for kicks...LMAO Again this is a dummy move by the Eagles yet great move for McNabb and the Skins, now Donovan can go somewhere where his talents will be appreciated, where his play and the heightened level of the teammates around him will be elevated and noticed, where he won't be boo'd when he is selected in the draft, where every newspaper and writer won't label him....Good Luck #5

Great Video (NY-Z by Absolute)
Just had to write a small little blog about this to shed some light on this amazing video constructed by filmaker Danny Clinch about my favorite MC, Jay-Z. Everything about this video is just amazing from the cinematography to just the message and things that were being said by Jay so I wanted to make sure that it got some shine because it is a very good. You can hate on him all you want, talk about all that illuminati trash yall speak of (yet truthfully know nothing about) but this is a dope piece right here and it's not all about Jay it's about music and music is UNIVERSAL. The pics beginning at the 12:31 mark and then the speech on music that Jay gave at the 12:53 mark was just GREAT!!!! Simply AMAZING...I don't have much more to say other than that, I don't mind spending 15 mins of my life on something so well put together...enjoy

Neo's Open Letters - To The Daddys
This is just a little vlog (click link below) dedicated to those good men out there that are on their jobs as fathers. A lot of times I see and hear nothing but negative stuff when it comes to men so I took some time out of my day today to make sure to recognize some of the good ones and let people know that its alright to tell someone they are doing a great job and not just tear them down when they fall off or do something wrong. So this is my salute to all the stand up fathers, stepfathers, stand in fathers, guardians, brothers that have to be fathers, uncles, cousins, godfathers etc that are helping to raise our children up...YOU ARE APPRECIATED

Reconnecting with friends on Facebook.......PRICELESS!!!
ATTENTION: As always please pause the Matrix movie soundbite off to the left side of the screen prior to listening to watching the video...kinda hard to hear me over Morpheus, oh and Facebook heads reading this in the "Notes" section you won't be able to see the video unless you come directly to my blog so just click "View Original Post" down below...NOW PROCEED!!!
Just had to do a little blog/vlog after speaking with my homie Lu on Facebook today, he is a childhood friend and we were speaking on how much of a benefit this Facebook thing is in that regard of being able to re-connect with some of the great people that you knew growing up. He said I should blog about it so I decided to do just that but put it in video form. As always pardon the randomness of my thoughts but all of these vlogs are straight off the top as you know so I don't technically plan them out, I just go with the raw emotion. So this is just to illustrate some of the reasons why I truly think this whole Facebook thing is good, some may agree, some may feel different, some may just not giving a flying squirrel fart but that's out of my hands at this point...so enjoy and big shoutout to Plainfield and all of my people from there that I know and love

Selling Out
THIS 1st PARAGRAPH IS FROM WIKIPEDIA: "Selling out" refers to the compromising of one's integrity, morality and principles in exchange for money, "success" (however defined) or personal gain. It is commonly associated with attempts to tailor material to a mainstream audience. A person who does this, as opposed to continuing along his or her original path, is labelled a sellout, and typically regarded with disdain. Selling out is often seen as gaining success at the cost of credibility. The phrase is frequently heard in the musical community, where it is used to imply that an artist has compromised his or her artistic integrity in order to gain radio airplay or obtain a recording contract, especially with a major label. Often, the label will force a particular record producer onto the performer, insist on the inclusion of songs by commercial songwriters, or the label may even refuse to release an album, deeming it uncommercial.
But I ask what exactly is your definition of a sell out? I mean this is a phrase that is thrown around very loosely in the world nowadays especially within the hip hop community but seriously what is a sell out, and what criteria does one have to carry in order to become one. Is a sell out someone that starts from the bottom and works their way up to the top, is a sell out someone that gets a great job...mind you one that they may have worked very hard for and then they up and move out from the environment in which they were raised, i'm just confused. I mean isn't the goal in life to better yourself and situation, make the best for those that will follow you such as younger siblings and your own children? I have 2 kids so no i'm not living where I grew up and i'm not saying that I grew up in the roughest spot in america but come on I want the best for my kids so like any parent I try to do better than my own parents did FOR my children. If I was to hit the lottery im not trying to live in the PJ's sorry, call me whatever you want. I mean am I a sell out if I was raised in the "hood" and went to Harvard to get my degree, am I a sell out because I don't hang with people that aren't about nothing in life because I was always told that if you want to be the best you have to be around the best or those that will inspire you to do better than you are currently doing. In the music biz a sell out is someone that has "forgot where they came from" and I find that very funny because these same MC's stay shouting out where they are from so how the hell did they forget. They do tons of community work in their cities, trust me a lot of them do but there is no media coverage of that kind of stuff but yet they FORGOT where they came from. Take someone like Jay-Z (who is part of the reason for this blog because I was reading comments on a video earlier and a few people didnt even bother to listen to the music anymore cause they were too affixiated with calling the man a sell out) he gets the sell out thing a lot, why because he was on Oprah, because he personally knows Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, etc...come on do you know how idiodic that sounds. Funny thing is that when when he is on Oprah (whom would never have a rapper previous to him on her show) he is doing that to possibly open a door for the same knucklehead calling him a sell out, when he is opening businesses or owning part of a basketball team it's to show that it can be done, I mean is that NOT giving back? Think about this for a minute, who did he have to look up to in the "hood" the same people we had to look up to in the hood, drug dealers, hustlers, etc typically for a majority of us those people were our fathers, brothers, uncles and all that but think about a generation that looks at a cat like Jay-Z, a young kid can aspire...no not to be a rapper but be a majority owner in a professional team, open his own sports lounge, go to the White House for lunch with the President as well as be asked to help with the President's campaign. So come on are you serious with this sell out stuff? There are some instances when YES people DO actually sell out because they allow themselves to be prostitutes meaning they will do anything to make a dollar but what I am saying is use the word in the right context if you are going to use it. I mean am I a sell out because I have a good job and take care of my family? Am I a sell out because I dont want to shop at certain Walmarts or Targets because the overall quality of the store is less than another? Am I a sell out because I have close friends that I even actually look at like family but they have a different complexion than myself? Am I a sell out because I dont always listen to all underground MC's or music? Am I a sell out because I work hard to make my way up the corporate ladder to better my career and future endeavors? I mean I have never been called one myself but I guess in the eyes of some maybe I am, who the hell knows but I do know this the last place I would want to live after working my whole life to get out is the "hood" unless my means could only afford that. I don't work to stay on the bottom just like a starving artist doesn't want to make it in the business just to stay in the cut and not make that big money. People are funny they are like so and so moved out the "hood" or changed their ways so now they are sell outs but those same cats would black mask it out if you were still in the "hood" with all your money and rob you...WHY, because they would say that you think you are better than everyone else, trying to show off or stunt etc. See the mental capacity will not allow them NOT to hate in some capacity, it's what people do when you have something they are striving for, when you have something they wish they had or wish they had the will to do. I never hate on anyone that's out to better not only themselves but their whole lives and by that I mean all surrounding them and building a great foundation for thier children and the generations to come after. I want my son to be better than me just like my father wanted my brother and I to be better than him and the best way to do that is to make sure to create the best options possible for him to succeed so sometimes I may have to rub elbows with the "other side" just to make my way in because they aren't just going to let you in or open the doors for you. As I stated this is a statement that is used a lot in hip hop and myself being a lover of hip hop music it just infuriates me when I hear it because what is it being based on...wealth, status, residency, i mean what??? I guess NOT being a sell out is going to jail as a rapper, I guess not being a sell out is living in the same place you've been working most of your adult life to try to make it out of...so TI lives in a gated community does that make him a sell out, so Ludacris decides he wants to hang out at a club with Matt Damon does that mean he is a sell out.....?
The biggest thing about it I guess is to NOT forget where you came from because it is solely responsible for everything that you are. I mean there are people that try to hide their past because of how it may be viewed in their present lives which to me THEN makes you that sell out I am speaking of. I have actually worked with people that grew up maybe somewhere like Newark, NJ and lied and said they grew up in Westfield, NJ because it sounds better in the corporate world. I mean I personally always stay true to who I am, but I know WHEN and WHEN NOT to be that Dwight, I will not run into a meeting with the big heads at the job with my Yankees fitted hat on to the back talking about "yo B we are on to the next one son" if we are moving to a new topic in said meeting but I also am true to who I am so I don't run around lying like I was not born and raised in Plainfield NJ. I don't front like there weren't nights when my mom and I struggled and had to have candles light our apartment cause the lights were out, when oodles of noodles were part of my everyday diet, but those same things conditioned me to work harder to build a good life for my kids, those same things instilled in me a mentality to work and succeed like none previous to me before at all costs, I mean I became a manager not for the money or just to say that I am one because it sounds dope when you say it at a high school reunion or on Facebook but I wanted to become one because I want to leave some footprints and show some of my fellow employees that work with me that you dont have to accept being just the low man on the totum pole, to leave some kind of mark that someone else may follow and in time do better than even I could do, and I think thats what some people such as Jay-Z do in my opinion. Those things he does are for hip hop and for the culture, I mean sure everyone wants to be rich, be paid, have money and nice things so how the hell can you fault Hov for that and then use that as your primary means to drag his name through the mud. Not one of those same people can tell me that if Budwiser offered them $2 million dollars to do a commercial they wouldnt have done it, some of them would do it for a G stack so they can miss me with that nonsense. So you wouldn't be president of a record company if they asked you or change your music and style to adapt so that you can continue to have a job. Those that refuse to adapt stay stuck and they are trapped and are the same ones that look at others moving forward then throwing hate at them. In hip hop you can't stay the same, I mean a rapper cant rap about stuff he rapped about on his 1st few albums once he starts getting that dough because then its "oh he just raps about the same stuff all the time and he isn't in the hood anymore anyways" but then if you try to change its "oh he sold out, all he talks about is money etc" or my personal favorite "he needs to take it back to that old shit, how he rocked when he 1st came out" are you kidding me, i mean what do you want? Basically this blog is just to tell people to grow the hell up and learn what a true sell out is prior to using the word, and then ask yourself what would you do in the same position, what would you do if you have or are offered millions of dollars and it could better your life and those around you? What would you give or sacrifice to fullfill a dream of your such as many of these people that are so called sell outs are doing? Would you do what you needed to do to be the best and position yourself with those people that may have other looking at you as if you were a sell out and if so would you consider yourself one for doing so....?
