40 Days Of Budden (#34)

#34 - Ma Ma Ma feat. 112

I know a lot of cats maybe weren't feeling Joe when he was on songs of this nature but again it shows the diversity and range that a GREAT MC needs to have and he has an abundance of it. This song was so bananas off that 1st album "Joe Budden" and I remember I was living in Atlanta at the time and me and my dudes used to ride out listening to this, it was like our "just got the cars washed" joint. The lyrics were dope (he dropped some classic ones peep below) and then once Joe said "you gotta go to the car wash on this one.....don't just get the exterior joint neither, you need the the THE WORKS the $30 joint and you need to get the little tree to put up on the rear view so it's smelling nice and sexy inside" once I heard that part I knew that was the official nice day anthem & since it's Memorial Day when you are on your way to that cookout knock this in your whip with all he windows down and the sunroof open, don't forget to hit that car wash 1st though!!!

"imma let the world see, other boos can't relate...let you walk in front make the other dudes hate"

"i'm tired of trickin, i'm tired of pigeons...need a house with acres to put my wife and kids in"

"when them other cats call you TURN YOUR PHONE OFF...new school your neck take that herringbone off"

40 Days Of Budden (#35)

#35 - Blood On The Wall
When I 1st got my copy of "Padded Room" this was one of those tracks within the 1st few days that I kept on repeat, I just fell in love with the beat and then when I was listening and realized it was Joe GOIN IN on these cats I was like "I'm loving it". He gave it to Prodigy on this one and I really was on this line "used to be hip hop to me until you bombarded me with everything ass like sodomy"....CLASSIC BUDDEN

"not a murderer or gangsta robber, washed up 90's nigga now a gangsta blogger.......your sound is old not even worth a download"

40 Days Of Budden (#36)

#36 - Invisible Man
This is another great song and one of those good ol fashioned "Mood Muzik" cuts...someone asked me before why he named his cd's "Mood Muzik" and I just had to say it's simple it's MOOD MUSIC, similar to is you are trying to set a mood for a romantic evening and you play Maxwell or Luther Vandross, just down a different lane with the mood. This song is dope for a number of reasons and the main one is the whole message within it, I mean I could go into the song real deeply but you can hear it for yourself what he is saying and his words and delivery are just seemless on here, PAY ATTENTION!!!

"staring out a project window under mad stresses, me and my mental got 2 different addresses"

"if I was Kanye I wouldn't have these problems.....but then i'd have Kanye's problems"

40 Days Of Budden (#37)

#37 - I'm Back
This is one of those songs I heard and said to myself this is going to be a hit for him because it has that crossover appeal, and I felt like Def Jam was going to really jump behind Joe but as well all know that didn't happen (one of those rare moments when the big homie Hov really disappointed me cause they didn't handle Joe right). He went in on this beat which I may add was dope, I used to ride out to this track something serious back when it dropped cause I just loved the whole feel of it. Again this is one of the reasons why I fucks with his music so much because of its diversity, he has great range and can really go into any avenue when it comes to making songs cause this was like a club, radio joint as I mentioned earlier..."it's the newest piece of the Def Jam takeover, the best piece of that Def Jam makeover"

40 Days Of Budden (#38)

#38 - State Of You
This is one of those songs I just zone out to when I am in a crazy emotional state, he goes in on this one and pretty much on every track from "Escape Route" (which is a dope cd if you aren't up on it). It's one of those songs you kind of just feel deep down because he speaks on many relatable topics...I mean the line "I got demons by my door staked out, i'm inside going over my escape route" alone was just a classic/memorable line. And the last verse was just venom...he spits with such conviction, it just engulfs you in the song.

"so try fucking the world, ain't as easy as you think"

ASK NEO - 5/25/10 (New Blog Series)

"Pro football, as a game, is virtually built to weed out the chaff so that true greatness may emerge. Our oblong ball seems designed for the express purpose of making fools of men that cannot master its indiscriminate bounces. The weather conditions of the game can level the proverbial playing field in more ways than one."

The above quote was taken from an article on NFL.com pertaining to this 1st question that I was posed for my newest blog series entitled "Ask Neo". In this series I will answer questions that you guys give me as honest as I possibly can. I hope you enjoy this 1st installment and if you should have any questions that you want to ask me please feel free to send them to me, thanks and enjoy....

40 Days Of Budden (#39)

#39 - Big Shot (G-Unit Diss)
MAAAAAAN i always loved this one man, I mean he single handedly bodied G-Unit with this one, especially Game and 50. How many MC's can take it to a whole camp of dudes by themselves and come off like this. I was so impressed cause I was like damn he concentrated his energies and murked these dudes, I was like "man I don't know how they are gonna recover from this one", I mean the Unit held on though but they took a chink to the armor with this one from Joey. This shows his range as an MC as well cause it shows he can REALLY give you that battle rap if tested..."as far as Banks and Buck i'm done discussing em, I only beef with niggas who own publishing...Curtis you're a bum and you're almost done same artist you was dissing is exactly what you've become, saw him at Summer Jam and all he did was stare, walked on stage and all you heard was chairs (they threw the chairs at him)"

40 Days Of Budden (#40)

What's good people, we are taking a break from our regularly scheduled blogging to shine the light on one of my all time favorite MC's...Joe Budden, and in this new blog series titled "40 Days Of Budden" I will be highlighting & counting down 40 of my favorite Joe Budden songs. Initially it was going to be "30 Days Of Budden" but I honestly couldn't just squeeze in 30 joints, the list actually had 50 plus originally so it was hell just trying to narrow it down so I figured this is a good way to kick the summer off for all my faithful readers as well as those loyal Budden fans such as myself.

Joe is a fantastic MC and people don't really appreciate his genius so I am taking time out to show him and my fellow fans my own appreciation for his music and the time and energy he puts into making it. I have watched him actually make songs on JBTV.com as well as through his numerous live feeds so I have a deeper appreciation for what he does and this is just my way to show that love he shows to his fans right back. Joe Budden has always been (since he came onto the scene) and always will be in a direct tie for my all time favorite MC with Jay-Z, many have questioned how I can put him above other great MC's and I simply say "listen to his work". You either love him or hate him, personally I got nothing but love and respect for the homie especially since he reps for my homestate of New Jersey (JERSEY STAND UP!!!) and his music helps in a lot of ways...when I was going through tough times I threw on a Joe track and it helped, when I am in a funk emotionally or have a lot on my mind I slip into what I call my "Anti" state (as my friends on Facebook know) and just zone out to his music, can't say I can do that with many other MC's. I also quote his music a lot and if you aren't familiar with it a lot of the songs I will use in the countdown is where I got the inspiration for such quotes.

So Joe if you happen to catch wind of this big homie this blog series for the next 40 days is for you, I know you always have bloggers trying to tear you down but not over here, keep doing your thing because you have a loyal following and we will continue to support you. Good luck with the Shady deal, and big ups to the whole Slaughterhouse movement (props to Crook, Joell, and the big homie Royce). And I know I speak on behalf of many people and other fellow fans (such as my peoples L'z aka Larion, Skep, Shanda, Willis, Bryan, Wolf, Jam, Dill, Skeeno as well as my wife) when I say THANK YOU.

#40 - 40 Licks
I picked this one because from the time the beat drops until it fades it is just a phenomenal piece of work and the bars Joe spit are just epic and very truthful as are all his lyrics...ex: "where's the answer, don't ask for a cig, i'm so self centered I won't even share this cancer"

NOTE: all the new blogs will be posted at midnight the next day

Season Finales....WTF HAPPENED???

Remember when Season Finale cliffhangers were just purely suspenseful, so and so ended up pregnant or found out his best friend’s father was actually his dad as well, you know good old fashioned stuff like that. Now it’s been replaced by death and killing off characters and I just need to know when did we as a people become so socially accepting of the exploits of negativity. Sure many of these shows that we watch, especially the ones that I like such as all 3 of the CSI series as well as Criminal Minds and The Mentalist, are all based around homicide and things of that nature but that doesn’t mean that at every season finale someone has to get shot, stabbed, kidnapped and things of that nature. I mean I am an avid watcher of CSI and the Season Finale for the Vegas series had one of the characters shot (he didn’t die) and another one was stabbed in his back at the very end of the episode prior to the credits rolling. Listen I would have been just as satisfied as a fan if it ended with them catching the bad guy and going out as a team to have a drink instead of one of the characters that I like being stabbed in the back by a detained serial killer that should have never been able to get that close to him or anyone else.

These season finales have just become shock value for the viewers, “how much carnage can we fit into one episode?” and I don’t think that it is necessary to be quite honest. And the crazy part is if they would just end some of these season finales on a good note fans would be upset and I can’t for the life of me understand why. You have an 8 episode season and all the other episodes end on a good note but not the “THRILLING SEASON FINALE, SOMEONE WILL GET SHOT AND YOU HAVE TO WAIT TILL THE END TO FIND OUT WHOOOOOOOOOOO” (in my scary commercial voice) I mean it’s just getting ridiculous at this point. I was checking my Facebook feed last night and I saw that everyone was watching “Grey’s Anatomy” now I don’t watch this show, tried once but it bored me almost to the point of suicide but I am not here to knock anyone else’s viewing pleasure it’s merely to make a reference point. I didn’t even have to watch the show to know that there was nothing but sheer mayhem going on, people got pregnant, there was a shooter/sniper, I think Tupac made a special guest appearance, Spiderman swung through as an extra bonus, Jay-Z and Beyonce came to the hospital right after their formal dinner with the Obamas and people were going absolute ape shit over it and that’s good because that’s how you should feel when you watch your favorite series but at the expense of what? Your favorite character dying or being killed off, the advocating of violence in a setting that it would never happen in anyways, I don’t know yall (insert Kanye West shoulder shrug here).

I mean I am personally pissed off for the 2nd time in about the last 4 years with the season finale of CSI (Vegas) because a few years back they killed off my favorite character, Warrick Brown (Gary Dourdan) and then just last night I had to watch my homie Ray Langston (Laurence Fishburne) get stabbed up all in his lower back and left for dead….while I do appreciate the drama and tension created for next season it sucks that it has to be my lasting image of a good character throughout the summer. Then the worst part is the follow up 1st episode of the next season is never adequate enough, generally speaking. So in closing I would just like to every once in awhile watch a show that could have a season finale without all the death, murder, scandal, etc and at least if you want to leave some cliff hangers do it like they do at the end of some of these Hollywood movies, show something subtle to get the mind of the viewer going, give us something to really think about, don’t dumb it down with senseless shit…thank you for listening

Neo's Old School Pick Of The Day (Naughty By Nature - Written On Your Kitten Remix)

This right here was a fire track...the original was alright but this remix was bananas, I still remember my reaction when shorty was grabbing on her breast towards the end...heeeeeeeeey i was a perverted teenager lol Treach was one of our most underrated MC's in my personal opinion and I am not just saying that cause he was repping Jersey. I am sure I took a lot of yall back with this one...DUECES "and if somebody's knocks it after me there'll be a CATastrophe" lmao

Happy Born Day Malcolm X

I just wanted to show some love to perhaps one of my favorite people in history on his born day because I highly doubt that tv, radio, Twitter, Facebook, etc will show any kind of love to the big homie. But this is just a blog that I am going to fill with some amazing videos of speeches and clips of Malcolm X. I learned about him as a kid when my grandfather (as well as my father and Uncle Chris also telling me about him) was showing me a lot of those "Eyes On The Prize" videos and they mentioned him and then I found this book laying around the house called "Remembering Malcolm", now I am not a huge reader but even as a kid this book resonated with me. Then once I saw the Spike Lee movie "X" it really opened me up to Malcolm and the many parts of him because I didn't really understand fully the extent of his genius, passion, heart, or intelligence. I hope that these videos give you all something to think about, now while I may not have always agreed with EVERYTHING he said (we don't always see eye to eye with everyone) but I always understood and respected his stance...please enjoy the clips

and one of the best actors of our generation (Denzel Washington) played a perfect portrayal of Malcolm X, and this scene damn near made me stand up in the theatre

Maaaaan SIT YO ASS DOWN Part 1 (Intro To The Series)

I was going to make a video blog (vlog) about this but I haven't had the time to actually make it and there have been far too many things going on in the world and I just can't let some of this shit slide so I figured it was time to attack some of these nimrods out there so here goes....

1st person on this list that needs to take a damn seat is Dream (the R&B singer) for those not in the know...he recently remade Aaliyah's "One In A Million" and needless to say it hasn't been getting favorable responses, not one over here either. It sounds kinda of sad and makes me feel slightly suicidal not in love, I mean I do respect him and what he was trying to do and it was a good meaning behind it but he should have left it alone it's one of those songs that should NEVER BE TOUCHED a la the "We Are The World" remake that they butchered last year...so Dream.....

Next up Brett Favre, this whole circus with Brett Favre is just getting on my last nerve...all I am trying to do is get some news about the NFL from the NFL Network, ESPN, etc yet all they ever have is "Favre Watch". Come on yall dude is a grandfather and has more grey hairs than well all of our grandparents combined, and I mean how do you keep doing this year in and year out to your teammates, fans, etc. Check me out Brett we loved you back in your prime and you are a great NFL QB and destined for the Hall Of Fame but Brett please do us all a favor and....

Whoever is responsible for all this bullshit going on in Arizona, please PLEASE...

Anyone out there talking all this "Free Lil Wayne (or insert various retarded rappers that did some dumb shit here)" you are a clown to say the least, I mean these cats did the crimes and they DESERVE to do the time. I also think that these dudes should be put in with the rest of the general population, why you ask, because WHY do they deserve preferential treatment above the regular person that does the same crime? Cause you can best believe that if these dudes had to do some "REAL" jail time, not this 1 year bid for only 5 months bullshit I bet neither them nor the other idiots that think they can do whatever the hell they want cause they got some stacks will think twice before doing the dumb shit. So to all those people screaming about "Free Lil Wayne", "Free Gucci", "Free Bootsie", etc please do me a a favor and.....

Last but certainly not least, Gucci Mane, I heard that statement you said after you 1st got out of jail and I will readily admit that some parts of that were really good and actually not what I expected to come out of your mouth but then right behind the good came the bad. As soon as you started to speak about hip hop I began to lose brain cells and then you said some ol silly shit about how the hip hop game is lacking substance, SUBSTANCE ARE YOU KIDDING ME with all that nonsense you spit over tracks...all imma say to that is...

and that's it for this 1st edition of "Maaaaan Sit Yo Ass Down", hope you enjoyed it and liked where I tried to go with it...DUECES

Neo's Old School Joint Of The Day (The D.O.C. - Funky Enough)

***If you are reading this on Facebook 1st please click on the link "View Original Post" to my blog in order to actually watch the video***

This was always a dope joint to me,this was around the time when the whole N.W.A. movement was just taking over and the West Coast had that really dope buzz. The beat was always the best part about this song and really began to showcase Dr. Dre's skills even though he had the crazy joints with N.W.A. this one right here was a banger, EVERYWHERE!!!

Passing Judgement

I'm gonna speak to all the judges out there for a sec, if you judge me solely on my outer appearance, how I talk, things I say, things i write on Facebook, in my blogs, the videos I post on my YouTube page, etc then ignorance must be your mother & intolerance your father because I'm more than what I choose to always show and if you actually took time out to open the book instead of just analyzing the cover maybe then you would properly know the whole story and realize that I am a lot deeper than what you have judged me to be....got a beef with what I said then take it up with whatever deity that you believe in...DUECES *steps off of my soapbox*

Neo's Old School Pick Of The Day (EPMD - You Gots To Chill)

***If you are reading this on Facebook 1st please click on the link "View Original Post" to my blog in order to actually watch the video***

Had to take it back to yet another favorite of mine...(see a pattern with all these old school songs, they are all favs) but this one holds a lot of sentimental value to me because it's one of those songs that make me think about 2 of my favorite relatives, my Uncle Jeff and my cousin Charles. I think about my Uncle cause he just loves this joint and I think about my cousin Charles cause I remember chillin with him in my Uncle Pook's basement when we were younger playing video games and stuff and whenever he played this he would start rocking that dance that my man was doing behind Erick Sermon at about the 1:34 mark (CLASSIC), oh and when my daughter gets married imma bust out with the move my man kicked off at the 1:53 mark (he was going in). This is true hip hop and songs like this are the reason I will always be a lover of the genre.

Neo's Old School Pick Of The Day (Outkast - Player's Ball)

***If you are reading this on Facebook 1st please click on the link "View Original Post" to my blog in order to actually watch the video***

Today's Old School Pick is a pretty good classic in my own personal opinion because it was one of those joints that really began the whole ATL movement. I mean I know there were other artists before Outkast but this song right here really brought that region of the south a lot of attention. I remember when I 1st heard this song I was like "damn I like these dudes even with their strong southern accents and all that" because they really were and still are dope MC's...

Neo's Old School Pick Of The Day (Full Force - Ain't My Type Of Hype)

***If you are reading this on Facebook 1st please click on the link "View Original Post" to my blog in order to actually watch the video***

Alright so I am moving the old school picks over here to my blogspot so you can now catch all the picks here. This 1st one is another favorite of mine and I figured I would go a little different because it was a song that had a video but most people will remember it from this scene in House Party (i'll add the regular video as well). The song is from Full Force called "Ain't My Type Of Hype" and it was a banger, me and my homie LA used to rock to this back in our old apartment...hope this gets everyone's weekend started off the right way, DUECES

Happy Mothers Day To All From Neo

This note is just my way of expressing my respect, admiration, and thanks to all of you women out there that this day was created for. It's hard to fit all of the thanks into just one day but each moment of today is special because it is celebrating the greatness of women, mothers to be exact, and it is your day to be honored how you should be. You have to deal with so much in the world but not today, you have to fight hard to be memorable but not today, you get taken for granted a good portion of the time but not today, because today is your day to be recognized. From my mothers (Mitzie, Terry, & Carol) to my beautiful wife (Kiesha) and all of my friends and family members that are mothers I thank you all for each and every thing that you do to make this world as beautiful as that word that we call "Mother". Your efforts and sacrifices, your patience and love, your tender loving care and nuturing is what helps us all come into this world healthy and ready to make something of ourselves. To all the mothers expecting, to all the women helping to raise children that aren't their own, to the aunts, cousins, and grandmothers helping to raise the next generations I thank you all as well. Special thanks to all those mothers out there with that mean belt game, keeping your kids in order not through abuse but through guided discipline with that leather strap...lol I thank you because without you and that "guidance" many of us would be out here in the world lost and doing God knows what. Each one of you that holds that title of "Mother" is a very special and unique individual, your carried us around for 9 months, you were the voice we heard the most of during that time, you were the 1st sight most of us saw, the 1st one that we cried to, the 1st one that we ran to when we fell off the bike, the 1st one we thank when we win a Grammy, and we do this because you are our strength, our lifeline, our blessing, and most importantly....OUR MOTHER. So today I want you all to enjoy it, savor it, and let this special day be more to you than just a card or flowers, more than just a nice dinner or that gift you have been dying for, let today be special because thats just what you are to those that call you "Mother"....special and we love and thank each and every one of you for all that you do....Happy Mothers Day

Happy Mothers Day Mommy From Shania & Quentin

A video of me and my kids acting really silly which was just our way of showing my wife Lakiesha how much we truly love her and appreciate all she does for us. Mothers Day just isn't enough for us to express ourselves but we damn sure tried...enjoy

Neo's Open Letters - Happy Mothers Day To My Mommy

Just a little video I made to show my appreciation to my mommy for all she does for me and for my life...she has been so instrumental in the making of me I figured it would be a great way to show my appreciation and love....oh and to all my blog readers, the hiatus....IS OVER, IM BACK!!!!!
